City Police Investigating Auto Theft, Injury Crash (UPDATE)

Effingham city police are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle.

The vehicle owned by Dwayne Buenker of Effingham was taken while parked at 1714 South Banker between 10:30pm and 11:33pm Wednesday. The vehicle is valued at approximately $9,500. Also stolen was a wallet, driver's license, fuel fob, keys and a cell phone.

Illinois State police recovered the stolen vehicle about 1pm Thursday, southwest of Mason.

Police are also investigating criminal damage to four vehicles owned by Northside Ford while parked at the dealership at 1312 North Keller Drive sometime between midnight Friday and 2:28pm Wednesday.

Three of the vehicles each had one tire slashed, and the fourth vehicle sustained damage to the paint from a sharp object. Each tire is valued at $250, while the paint damage is valued at $500.

Two people were injured in a crash at Willow and Pembroke just after 1pm Wednesday.

City police report a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Jamie Jenkins of Olney rear-ended a vehicle driven by 16-year-old Kimberly Clark of Effingham.

Clark, and a passenger in Clark's vehicle, six-year-old Addalyn Kirgan of Effingham, were injured, but both refused treatment. Jenkins was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
