Dieterich school board members adopted a budget for the coming fiscal year that includes more outgo than income.

Dieterich Superintendent Cary Jackson said additional cuts in State funding accounts for the majority of the deficit.

The Board approved a holiday waiver of Lincoln's Birthday for President's Day beginning in the 2013-2014 school year.  The District will designate Lincoln's Birthday as an attendance day and President's Day as a school holiday.

Board members accepted resignations from Kenny Koenig as assistant high school baseball coach and assistant high school basketball coach, from Mark Nowakowski as junior high baseball coach, junior high girls basketball coach and 6th grade basketball coach, from Alissa Miller and Arlene Fehrenbacher as 1 on 1 aides, and from Howard Bohnhoff as a bus driver.  Those hired include Charlene Rose to replace Nowakowski as junior high girls basketball coach and 6th grade basketball coach and hired Obie Farmer to replace Koenig as high school assistant boys basketball coach.  The Board also approved a leave for Ellen Hann for 10 weeks around January 14.

Board members were updated by elementary principal Kathy Pattenaude regarding Grandparents Day, the book fair and Open House, hearing that 80% of all elementary students were represented at Open House and that the book fair pulled in just short of $2,700 to benefit both the classroom libraries and the elementary library.

Pattenaude and junior-senior high school principal Kevin Haarman discussed enrollment figures, with Pattenaude reporting elementary enrollment has risen this year while Haarman said junior-senior high school enrollment is near its level from last year.  Dieterich's enrollment is 454 students as of this week, an increase of 16 students from the previous school year.
