A Neoga teenager was injured Saturday afternoon in an ATV crash in Montrose.

Effingham County sheriff's deputies say a 17-year-old boy was traveling on the Montrose blacktop, a quarter-mile south of Maple Street in Montrose, when the unit ran off the roadway to the right, and struck a sign and post. The ATV overturned, throwing the boy off the unit. The ATV came to rest on its side in a soybean field.

The youth, whose name was not released by the department, was injured and was airlifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana for treatment.

The crash happened just after 3:30pm Saturday. The youth was cited for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, and improper operation of an ATV on a highway.
