Several Injuries Occurred In Crashes During The Weekend

Several crashes occurred during the weekend and injuries were reported.

In an accident Friday, Belinda K. Tharp, 49, of Altamont, was injured in a one-vehicle crash. Tharp was eastbound on 1100th Avenue, a half mile east of Route 128 and lost control of her vehicle after hitting water on the roadway. She left the south side of the road, striking a tree. The vehicle then overturned landing upright.

Tharp was taken to HS HS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital. She was ticketed for failure to reduce speed and use of an unsafe tire.

In another accident Friday, Carter A. Kistler, 16 of Watson, was traveling south on old Watson Road at excessive speed in rainy conditions. The vehicle hydroplaned on the roadway and overturned ending up in a ditch on its top.

Kistler and passengers, Jackson Kincaid (14) and Austin B. Jacob (14) of Watson refused treatment. Kistler was ticketed for failure to reduce speed, speeding, expired registration and unlawful number of passengers.

In a two-car accident Sunday, Tyler A. Balch (23) of Newton was traveling westbound on 875th Road, 100 feet west of 1600th Street when it went into the eastbound lane striking a vehicle driven by Bryan E. Anderson (24) of Beecher City head-on.  Anderson, with a passenger, Ashley L. Pruemer (19) of Sigel, attempted evasive actions to prevent the crash but was unable to do so. Both Anderson and Pruemer were taken to HS HS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital while Balch refused treatment.

Balch was ticketed for DUI-alcohol,, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage.
