The stage has been set. Governor Bruce Rauner, just one day after signing a budget for K-12 school funding for the upcoming fiscal year, has vetoed the rest of Democrats spending plans for the new fiscal year.

Rauner vetoed 19 budget bills that were about $4 billion out of balance. Rauner says in a release that "Rather than repeating the mistakes of the past -- now is the chance to transform Illinois to make it more competitive and compassionate."

Rauner's still insisting lawmakers pass his reforms to business and political environments before he'll work on the budget.
