The Neoga school board has decided against resurrecting its Agriculture courses for the coming school year.

There had been discussion about bringing the program back, but when the agenda item came up, no motion was made to vote on the matter. The Ag program was one of a number of cuts approved earlier by the Board as part of efforts to make the district financially viable again.

The Neoga board heard that the district did contract with the Neoga Booster Club for funds to keep sports programs operating in the coming year including paying the stipends of the coaches. The total expense to the Booster Club, which is a one-year commitment, is $70,174.

Board members agreed to let Bass Fishing and Golf be offered again for the coming year with the participants paying their own way to take part. It was also agreed to advertise for a school district nurse, and to retain Bob Long as a substitute mechanic. Long also works for the Stew-Stras school district.
