State Crop Report for Week Ending June 7

Rain continues to hinder fieldwork for some producers in the southern parts of the state, while dry conditions in other areas allowed planting of soybeans and sorghum and cutting and baling hay.

The state crop report indicates precipitation averaged 0.27 inches, 0.65 inches below normal. The average temperature was 66.2 degrees, 2.4 degrees below normal. There were 4.6 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending June 7.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 2% short, 72% adequate and 26% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 6% short, 81% adequate and 13% surplus. 

Corn emerged reached 96% complete, in line with last year and the five-year average. Corn condition was rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 19% fair, 58% good, and 20% excellent.

Soybeans planted reached 88%, 3% behind last year, but 5% ahead of the five-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 77%, an increase of 15% from last week. Soybean condition was rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 23% fair, 61% good, and 13% excellent.

Winter wheat headed reached 98%. Winter wheat condition was rated 2% very poor, 9% poor, 34% fair, 48% good, and 7% excellent.

Oats headed jumped up 26% this past week, to 64%. 

Pasture and range condition was rated 2% poor, 15% fair, 58% good and 25% excellent.
