The Effingham Zoning Board of Appeals granted two requests for variances Tuesday night.

One request was submitted by Chris Andrews and Michelle Andrews, who asked that their rear yard setback be reduced from the usual 35 feet to 24 feet. The Andrews' plan to build a sunroom onto their home.

The other request was submitted by Marion Eye Center, which was requesting a variance to allow placement of a 26-foot-high sign at their business along Keller Drive. Usually, the maximum height allowed is 20 feet.

There were no objections from the public to either request.
