Effingham Water Authority trustees have approved the sale of Boat Dockers Marina to Bluegill Marina.

Bluegill Marina owners Brian and Nancy Sehy requested the Board consider reducing the annual rental for a couple of years due to additional expenses incurred in getting the marina and restaurant open. The Board will vote on the request at their June meeting.

Certified letters were sent to the owners of Lots 11 and 14 in Twin Oaks Subdivision regarding debris and building materials left on the property. Trustee Rob Brown said it appears some progress has been made on cleaning up Lot 11, but no progress has been seen on Lot 14. A special meeting was held Thursday to inspect the properties.

Brian Larson told trustees that he is working on a comprehensive plan for Red Fox Landing that he will present at the June meeting. Also discussed was a new regulation in regard to displaying an orange flag while towing a water skier or tube.

The Board heard a report on the geese egg addling project. It appears the geese population is down again this year.

Trustees also amended the leaf burning ordinance on Water Authority acreage. The new guidelines states that burning of leaves and landscape waste may take place between 8am and 5pm, but no burning is allowed on Sunday. Also, fires must be completely extinguished, except during the hours allowed, and fires must never be allowed to smolder even during the hours when burning is permitted and must be supervised at all times.
