St. Anthony, EHS Graduation This Weekend

St. Anthony and Effingham High Schools will both hold graduation ceremonies this weekend.

St. Anthony High School commencement exercises will follow a 7pm Mass Saturday in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Parish Pastor Father Chris Brey will celebrate the Mass with former and current chaplains and vicars concelebrating. Members of the Class of 2015 will assist as well, and there will be a senior chorus singing.

The commencement ceremony will feature a salutatorian speech by Emily Wortman, an address by Distinguished Alumnus of the Class of 1965 Marlene Pickett, a senior tribute, and a valedictorian speech by Madeline McDevitt.

The Effingham High School commencement exercise will take place Sunday at 2pm in the main gym at EHS. Processional and recessional music will be presented by the EHS Band, Class of 2015 member Jantzen Michael will offer the invocation, and co-valedictorians Maria Began, Kelsey Curry, Sean French, Abby Hagen, Kelly Keitel, Cheryl Macklin, Sean Sandifer, Victoria Sims and Felicia Totten will speak. Principal Jason Fox will present the class to Board President Jeff Michael and Class of 2015 member Brittany Beals will deliver the benediction.

As far as the other county high schools, Teutopolis High School's graduation ceremony is set for 2:30pm Sunday, Dieterich High School's students will graduate at 1pm Sunday, and Altamont High School graduation will take place at 7pm Saturday.

Beecher City High School graduation ceremonies took place last weekend.
