Work is underway to renovate Beecher City Junior-Senior High School.

Superintendent Scott Cameron said tuckpointing work has been underway for the past couple of weeks, and crews began tearing off the gym roof on Monday. A series of projects are a part of the work, the result of a decision by the school board about a year ago to address a series of needs in the building.

In the meantime, Cameron wants residents to know that some items no longer needed are available for sale. He said anyone interested in purchasing gym floor pieces, lighting fixtures or lockers should contact him at the Unit Office. The highest bidder will get first choice of the surplus items to be available.

Friday, May 22, is the deadline to submit a bid.

The Beecher City board took action Monday night to approve an amended fiscal year budget to reflect the expense of the project. The district is selling $2.5 million in CDs, using existing revenue to help defray the project cost.

Also Monday, the Board renewed a copier lease with Watts Copy and renewed an audit agreement with Mose, Yockey, Kull and Brown LLC.
