Park Board Reorganizes

The Effingham Park Board reorganized at this month's meeting following the April election.

Dave McDevitt and Dennis Carie were re-elected as Board President and Vice-President. McDevitt and Board member Chris Huelsbusch were named to the budget committee that will put together a proposal for the coming fiscal year.

Park District Director Jeff Althoff reported that participant numbers for summer softball and baseball were right in line with last year, and maybe higher than last year.

As to progress on the Workman Sports and Wellness Complex, Althoff said almost all of the steel work is completed, and walls are going up in places. He said the District is awaiting approval from the Illinois Department of Public Health of plans for the swimming pool complex. The pool work alone is expected to take five to six months to complete.
