A presentation is scheduled in Effingham tonight on law enforcement and those with spectrum disorders.

The program will begin at 6pm in the cafetorium at Effingham High School. The event is sponsored by Family Matters PTIC, the Effingham County Sheriff's Department, and ARC Community Support Systems.

At the free event, students and parents will learn how to be safe with law enforcement, how to stay calm during encounters with police officers, how to interact appropriately with police officers, and about law enforcement safety tools and uniforms. Organizers say the event is important for all students, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders and related disabilities to interact safely with the police.

For more information, phone Patty at 663-1072 or Corporal Darren Feldkamp at the Sheriff's Office at 217-342-2101.
