SAHS WYSE Team Finishes Fifth in State

The 2015 St. Anthony High School WYSE Team finished fifth in state competition Thursday at the University of Illinois.

The Academic Challenge is a competitive series of tests created and administered by Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering and offered to high school students in Illinois and Missouri. The tests are now offered by more than 50 community colleges and universities and are designed to present a challenge to the brightest students.

Top finishers for St. Anthony: Alex Curl--fifth place tie in Math, Laura Deters--sixth place tie in Math, James Kabbes--fifth place tie in Math, fourth place tie in Physics, Madeline McDevitt--sixth place tie in Math, John Sandschafer--third place tie in Physics, Thomas Stephens--fifth place tie in Math, second place tie in Physics.

Other squad members are Abby Brown, Ben Esker, Peter Keller, Chloe Malone, Isabel Moore, Megan Nuxoll, Emma Richards, Allison Spraul, and Emily Wortman.

Joy Jones and Matthew Poston are the WYSE Team coaches.
