The Effingham Water Authority focused on several issues at this month's meeting.

Trustee Jim Boos reported he was contacted by Gary Scoggins, who would like to offer a fishing guide service at Lake Sara.

The Board voted to approve an improvement and renovation plan for Boat Dockers Marina as set forth in a letter dated April 13 from current owner Mark Goeckner.

The approval is subject to a review by Water Authority attorney Tony Siemer.

The Board also heard that work continues on an intergovernmental agreement with Summit Township for a kayak and canoe trail and launch area.

A bid for rock for road maintenance work was awarded to low bidder Heuerman Brothers Trucking, the low bidder. It was also agreed to approve a plat of Siemer Lake Sara Subdivision. Trustee Rob Brown noted the current residence on Lot 3 of the subdivision is closer than 70 feet from the water, but will be grandfathered in since the home has been there for many years. If the house would be substantially damaged, though, a new home must meet the 70-foot setback. Brown also noted that no variances will be granted for the subdivision; also, the road providing access to the property will not be maintained by the Water Authority until it is brought up to standards. Regular Water Authority leases will be issued for the five lots and lease rental payments will begin.

The Board heard from Ray Koterba regarding the condition of the road in Schoenhoff Subdivision. The Board will inspect the road in the near future.

The Board also heard from Paula Boll concerning the condition of two lots in Twin Oaks Subdivision. Debris and building materials have been left on the lots. The complaint will be turned over to Siemer to determine what action can be taken.
