Preliminary autopsy results for a local infant who died Sunday indicates a death due to accidental suffocation.

An autopsy of two-month-old Molly Stephens was conducted Monday. Final autopsy results are pending.

911 was called at 9:48am Sunday regarding an unresponsive child at 209 W. Crawford in Effingham. The child was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 10:17am in the hospital ER. Effingham County Coroner Duane Guffey was notified, along with the Illinois Child Death Task Force.

Guffey's office and the Task Force continue their investigation of the incident, along with Effingham City Police Department, and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services.

The 9:48am time for the initial call is correct information; the Coroner's Office earlier reported the time was 7:45am, but that was incorrect.
