Effingham resident Justin Shadwell has been found unfit to stand trial on a count of residential arson.

The 31-year-old Shadwell is alleged to have had a role in a fire that damaged a house at 608 South 5th Street in Effingham on February 11.

Based on an evaluation by Dr. Jerry Boyd, Shadwell was found unfit to stand trial at this time, but could be found fit within one year. Shadwell was assigned to the care of the Illinois Deparment of Human Services. The case will be back in court for a status hearing on May 7.
