Thanks to a $2,000 grant from Rotary District 6490 to Effingham Sunrise Rotary, students from Sacred Heart, St. Anthony, Effingham Junior High and Effingham High Schools will have the opportunity to recommend nonfiction items for the new Effingham Library. All the new books and resources purchased with the grant will be available to all patrons of the Library, which supports Rotary’s vision for a literate community.

Working in partnership with school librarians and Helen Matthes Library staff, Sunrise Rotary members Joedy Hightower and George Sandifer are coordinating efforts with the schools to give students the opportunity to select the books and other items to be purchased with the grant dollars.

Students who assist with this project will be invited to an Opening Day Reception with the Effingham Sunrise Rotary Club at the new library in early September when items chosen by the students will be available for checkout.

Students interested in participating in the selection process for the Effingham Sunrise Rotary grant project should contact their school librarian for more details.
