One Injured in Crash North of St. Elmo

One person was injured when two vehicles collided in a rural area four miles northeast of St. Elmo Wednesday.

The crash happened just after noon. State police say a tanker truck driven by 42-year-old Danny Joe White of Bingham collided with a SUV driven by a 53-year-old Altamont man. State police did not release the Altamont man's name. A new state police policy is prohibiting the local post from releasing the name of a party involved in the crash unless the person was ticketed.

The unnamed Altamont man was injured and was airlifted to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis for treatment. 

White, who was not injured, was cited for failure to yield and for disobeying a stop sign.
