Altamont Youth Injured in Crash

An Altamont teenager was injured in a crash Tuesday morning on Moccasin Road.

The crash happened at 10:45am at 400th Street. State police did not release the name of the 17-year-old driver.

The report indicates the youth lost control of the vehicle involved and it ran off the roadway into a yard, then traveled another 229 feet before breaking off a power pole and causing a transformer to break free.

The youth was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. The youth was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
