The Beecher City school board is looking at some significant improvements to the junior-senior high school building.

Beecher City Superintendent Scott Cameron said he'd talked with board members about electrical problems in the building. Those problems aren't too surprising since the system dates to 1942. Cameron said once the discussion got rolling, board members said, "If we're going to do something, let's get it done and done right."

That consensus led to several potential projects. Besides the electrical work, the Board is looking at re-roofing the 1967 building addition, work on the parking lot, a new gym floor, drainage improvements, and a new heating and air-conditioning system for the building, which does not have central air at present.

The next step is waiting for the results of bids on the work, which are due February 26. In the meantime, the Beecher City board is having a special meeting this evening with a representative of Tim King Financials on how to fund the project.

At this week's regular meeting, Beecher City board members set May 9 as the date for 8th grade promotion, at 4pm, and for high school graduation, at 6:30pm, and hired Gayla Robertson as head cook.
