Governor Bruce Rauner has awarded some of the medical marijuana licenses held up by former governor Pat Quinn.

Among those awarded, Rauner has approved NH Medicinal Dispensaries as the dispensary for State Police District 12, which includes Effingham County and most area counties. In State Police District 10, which includes Shelby and Coles counties, a dispensary license was approved for Nu Med RX and for Phoenix Farms of Illinois.

No cultivation license was awarded for State Police District 12, but the Governor's Office said the application submitted by Effingham Farms is still being reviewed. Effingham Farms is the group that first sought to locate a grow facility just outside Effingham. Their effort was unsuccessful when the group failed to get a site properly rezoned. They have since sought a location at Edgewood for approval.

A cultivation center license was approved for District 10 for Shelby County Community Services.
