It's the Hatchets; at least as far as Stewardson-Strasburg is concerned.

The Stew-Stras school board Thursday voted to endorse the recommendation of the student bodies at both Stew-Stras and Windsor to name their boys basketball team for next season the Windsor/Stew-Stras Hatchets. The name is derived from the battles the two teams have had for many seasons; at Windsor for the blue hatchet, at Stew-Stras for the green hatchet.

Stew-Stras Superintendent Michelle Lindenmeyer said the Board also endorsed the students' color selection; royal blue and green with grey as an accent color. Those colors borrow from the colors worn by both teams at present.

The Windsor board did not act on the matter at their meeting this week; it's expected they'll make a decision at next month's meeting.

The boards of both districts earlier voted to co-op in all sports as of next school year. The students then voted on the nickname and the colors. Lindenmeyer said the nickname and the colors endorsed by the Stew-Stras board were the "overwhelming" choice of students at both schools.
