Coal City Woman Killed in Crash in Vandalia

A Coal City woman was fatally injured in a motorcycle crash in Vandalia Friday morning.
The victim was identified as 68-year-old Sharon Lang.
The crash occurred at 11:20am near the intersection of North 8th Street and Janette Drive. Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen said Lang was crossing a rock parking lot when the cycle she was operating lost traction, causing her to roll the throttle open. The cycle crossed Janette Drive and crashed into a block retaining wall.
Lang was transported to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia where Bowen pronounced her dead at 2:31pm.
Bowen's office is working with the Vandalia City Police Department to investigate the crash.
