The death of a Watson man Thursday was due to natural causes and not due to his vehicle striking a tree.
The Effingham County Coroner's Office Friday said 67-year-old Gilbert Brewer died Thursday morning. Authorities were notified at 6:30am of a vehicle that was found to have struck a tree on private property at the intersection of 800th Avenue and 1430th Street in Watson. The Coroner's Office was contacted at 6:46am and Brewer was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:15am.
The Coroner's Office ruling is that Brewer's death was due from natural causes and not related to any type of injuries from the vehicle striking the tree.
