St. Elmo school board members have voted to support and proceed with consolidation efforts with the Brownstown School District. The Board Monday also voted to approve formation of a Committee of 10 to get the planning underway.

The Brownstown school board is to meet Wednesday night to consider whether also to move ahead with the effort.

The districts have been to this point before in recent years, having taken the consolidation question to referendum. St. Elmo district residents approved consolidation, but Brownstown district residents narrowly voted against consolidation. A majority of residents in each district have to approve consolidation for it to be implemented.

Also at St. Elmo this week, the Board passed the tax levy for the new fiscal year...adopted some updated Board policies...and approved employing Colton Booher as elementary basketball assistant coach for the school year.
