Area Residents Honored at State Aging Event

The Illinois Department on Aging held an awards ceremony to conclude the 2014 Governor's Conference on Aging and Disability in Chicago.

It marks the 33rd consecutive conference the agency has presented to focus on issues that affect the aging population and people with disabilities.

Two area residents received honors.

Norma Deters, with Golden Circle Nutrition Program in Effingham, received the Joyce Still Memorial Award from the Illinois Association of Nutrition Providers.

Elizabeth Friese, with Community Care Systems of Shelbyville, was named Care Co-ordinator of the Year by the Illinois Council of Case Co-ordination Units.
