Work is progressing on the Richard E. Workman Sports and Wellness Complex, despite a lack of help from the weather.

Effingham Park Board President Dave McDevitt told Park Board commissioners that work is moving ahead, although it has been slowed a little. Poettker Construction officials still expect that footings for the Complex will be completed next week. McDevitt said they still anticipate opening the Complex next fall.

Park Board commissioners passed a tax levy for the new fiscal year totaling $978,000. Commissioners also reviewed a renewal of District health insurance coverage. McDevitt said premiums are down since the average age of District employees is down.

Commissioners also learned that work is nearing completion on the new maintenance shed at Evergreen Hollow Park. McDevitt said Park District employees almost have the office and the restroom in the building completed.
