The Teutopolis school board voted this week to support a proposed new Effingham City/County Enterprise Zone.

The new zone would replace the zone set to expire in 2018. The new zone would follow basically the same boundaries as the current zone, and would allow abatement of property taxes on any improvements seen in the zone.

The Board accepted the resignation of Rich Niebrugge as junior high softball coach, and hired Tim Pezan as frosh-soph spring baseball coach. A new policy was adopted on bullying and the Board approved discarding or selling surplus technology equipment.

Board members approved a tentative tax levy for the coming fiscal year, with final passage anticipated in December, and discussed an impending resignation from the Board and the procedure to choose and appoint a successor.
