Natural Causes Ruled in Area Death

The death of an Edgewood man has been ruled due to natural causes and no foul play is suspected.

Effingham County sheriff's deputies were called to 600 Poplar in Edgewood at 11:31am Sunday due to a report of an unresponsive person. Deputies and a crew from Effingham City-County Ambulance Service responded and found 78-year-old Patrick C. Greear dead. Effingham County Coroner Duane Guffey was summoned to the scene and pronounced Greear dead at 12:30pm Sunday.

An investigation into the death was completed by the Effingham County Sheriff's Department and the Effingham County Coroner's Office.
