Mother Nature is giving Illinois a slight break this year when it comes to tornadoes.

State Climatologist Jim Angel says despite all the rain we've had, only 30 twisters have been confirmed and most of those hit during a storm in February.

Illinois isn't in the clear just yet. Angel reminds tornadoes can hit anytime of the year in the state. We saw that just last November when multiple twisters swept across the state, killing five people.
