Additional petitions have been taken out for seats on the Effingham City Council.

Three petitions have been picked up from the City Clerk's office since our last update. Those were picked up by Michael Williamson, Bob Reardon and Kevin Willis.

Those three join current Council members Merv Gillenwater, Brian Milleville and Don Althoff, along with former Council member Larry Micenheimer, Jeff Bloemker, Dave Campbell and Patty Russell.

A reminder that, just because someone picked up a petition, it doesn't mean they plan to seek office; the petition could have been picked up for someone else. The filing period is in December. If needed, a City Primary Election would take place on February 24, with the General Election on April 7.

There will be at least two new members of the City Council; current City Commissioners Alan Harris and Matt Hirtzel have announced they will not seek re-election in 2015.
