No one was injured when a flat storage building being filled with corn burst open Sunday afternoon west of Kansas, Illinois.

The building is owned by Total Grain Marketing in Effingham. General Manager Byron Sikma said a 700,000 bushel building was being filled when crews experienced a structural failure on the south end. The failure took down a leg and holding tank of the structure, located along Illinois 16.

Sikma said the incident doesn't come at a good time with TGM dealing with what Sikma termed a record amount of grain, but said, "We'll deal with it." He said the firm will build new storage facilities to replace the damaged building.
