An Edgewood woman was injured Saturday night when she was struck by a van driven by her husband. The husband has been charged and is in custody.

Effingham County Sheriff John Monnet said the incident occurred around 9:30pm near the couple's home near Edgewood. The sheriff said Sheree O'Connor and her husband Branden were spotted having an argument after leaving a party in Altamont and a resident notified authorities. The couple headed for home in their van and the sheriff said, at some point, the van stopped and Sheree O'Connor got out of the vehicle. The report on the incident indicates that Branden started to leave, then stopped and backed up and struck Sheree O'Connor. Branden O'Connor then took Sheree home and phoned for medical assistance. Sheree O'Connor suffered a head injury, but could communicate with deputies at the scene. The decision was made to airlift Sheree to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana for additional treatment.

Branden O'Connor was taken into custody on charges including reckless driving, domestic battery and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was in custody in Effingham County Jail at last report and was expected to make an initial court appearance today.
