The 2014 Chilifest is scheduled for Friday, October 17 in downtown Effingham.

The event, sponsored by the Effingham Central Business Group, is planned from 5 to 8pm with chili tastings planned at nearly two dozen businesses. Proceeds from Chilifest will benefit the Santa House on the lawn of the old Courthouse downtown.

There's lots more than chili planned, too. Events will include bounce houses, face painting, CHIP (Child Identification Program), the Caledonia fire truck, classic car displays, motorcycle displays, a performance by the FACE Community Orchestra, browsing at the Veterans Memorial on the old Courthouse lawn, and tours of the old Courthouse Museum.

Live music is planned by LP and Honey Bee and by Bill Poss and the Useful Tools.

979XFM and KJ Country 102.3 are proud to help sponsor the event, along with Taylor Law Office, First National Bank of Dieterich, Midland States Bank and Washington Savings Bank. We'll be broadcasting live from the event Friday night from 5 to 6pm.
