Effingham now has an announced candidate for mayor.

Jeff Bloemker, Executive Director at Heartland Human Services in Effingham, has announced his intention to run for Mayor in the April 2015 municipal election.

“I think the people of Effingham are ready for a mayor with more business acumen and management experience.  I will work hard to be a strong and energetic chief advocate and marketing representative for the city,” Bloemker stated.

Bloemker has held senior management positions with several of the leading entrepreneurial companies in Effingham over the past twenty-five years.  He’s also been on the city’s Plan Commission and the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals for over ten years.

Bloemker continued, “I’m a third generation Effingham resident and my kids are a fourth.  I’ve held board positions with the County Board of Health, the Chamber of Commerce, the Unit 40 Educational Foundation, and the Rotary Club.  I’m fully vested in this community.”

Petitions are available at both the City Clerk's Office and the County Clerk's Office for mayor and for city commissioner. The filing period will take place at the City Clerk's Office from December 15-22.
