St. Anthony Parish Pastor Chris Brey announced that Dr. Chuck Schumacher is the winner of the high school’s annual Corvette raffle.

Schumacher, of Schumacher Orthodontics, won the St. Anthony High School 17th Annual Corvette Raffle, which is held each year in conjunction with Mid America Motorworks Corvette Funfest.

As the grand prize winner, Schumacher was given a choice between a 2015 Corvette Stingray or $55,000 in cash, and he selected the cash.

“My wife, Allison, and I were just talking about how we would love to see someone from Effingham win,” remarked Schumacher. “It was just crazy to later get the call that my name was drawn as the winner.”

“We are excited that this year’s winner was not only from Effingham, but is also a St. Anthony parishioner,” said Brey. ”I am grateful to the Schumacher's for their support and to everyone who participated knowing their generosity would benefit St. Anthony High School."

Tickets for the annual fundraiser were sold in the months leading up to the Corvette Funfest and the winner was drawn on Sunday, Sept. 21, which was the final day of the event.

A total of 1,218 “Grand Prize” tickets were sold, with an additional 915 tickets to those who wished to increase their odds. As a result, the high school collected $139,440 in ticket sales.
