Three people were injured when two vehicles collided Wednesday near the junction of US 40 and I-70 west of Brownstown.

State police say a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Kathy Zuber of Olney exited onto US 40 from the interstate and collided with a pickup truck pulling a trailer full of scrap metal. The impact caused Zuber's vehicle to run off the roadway and into the ditch.

Zuber was injured, as was the driver of the pickup truck, 36-year-old Travis Stein of Altamont and Stein's passenger, 34-year-old Shelli Stein of Altamont. All three of those injured were taken to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia for treatment.

Zuber was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
