Teutopolis village board members Wednesday approved their final payment for preliminary work on an extension of street that would fill the "missing mile" between Crystal Street and Willenborg Street.

Water Street in Teutopolis now extends west to Crystal Street, while Evergreen Avenue in Effingham now extends east to Willenborg Street. Filling in the gap to provide an additional east-west roadway between the two communities has been discussed for many years.

The payment Wednesday by the Teutopolis Board to Farnsworth Group of Effingham totals just over $2,800.

The Board also approved a payment on the extension of water line from Teutopolis to Newton. The line itself is completed, but work on the controls is still being finalized. Teutopolis Village Clerk Sharon Will said it's expected there will be water within a month flowing from Newton to T-Town.

Board members also approved a proposal from Lisa Tebbe, who handles the Village's website, to redesign the site for a flat fee and to continue maintaining the site on an ongoing basis.
