Effingham resident David Wyckoff Tuesday was placed on four years' probation on a charge of aggravated domestic battery.

The sentence for the 22-year-old Wyckoff follows a bench trial before Judge Kimberly Koester earlier this year. Wyckoff had also been found guilty of aggravated battery, but the counts were merged for purposes of sentencing.

The charges stem from an incident in September 2013 involving a woman with whom he'd been involved. At one point, Wyckoff was indicted by a local grand jury on a number of other counts of a more serious nature, but prosecutors dropped those charges when Wyckoff agreed to the bench trial.

In addition to probation, Wyckoff will serve three months of weekends, and will then be on three months of home confinement. The exceptions will be for counseling and other treatment, and employment opportunities.

Wyckoff must also pay fines and must make restitution of close to $7,000. He was also ordered not to have contact with the woman involved in the incident.
