Effingham Momentum Operations Director Kevin Wiedman announces the not-for-profit group will host its first annual golf outing and invites area golfers to join in the effort to raise funds for the local after-school program.

The First Annual Effingham Momentum Golf Outing is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at noon Friday, Oct. 3, at the Cardinal Golf Course in Effingham. A variety of activities will be held as part of the event including: a drive the green competition, live entertainment and a silent auction.

“We are very excited to host our first golf outing, as we work to raise funds for our local after-school program,” said Wiedman. “Effingham Momentum will provide a variety of opportunities for area youth in a supervised environment, including tutoring, programing, recreational activities and more.”

The cost to participate in the outing is $100 per person and includes green fees, cart fees, drinks, a bag lunch, dinner and live entertainment. For those not wishing to golf, the cost is $30 per person and includes dinner and live entertainment. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for this event.

“The golf outing will be the first of many fundraisers we plan to host, as we work to raise the funds needed to open the doors,” said Wiedman. “Our goal is to have the program running for the 2015-16 school year.”

Effingham Momentum’s mission is to enrich the lives of area youth while providing guidance and accountability.

“Our goals are aimed at providing area students with academic assistance while fostering social and life skills. By providing enriching, age-appropriate programming, we hope to increase students' exposure to different interests and ideas,” said Wiedman.
