Effingham Water Authority trustees this week discussed a proposal by Danny Hankins regarding a separate beach area for dogs at Lake Sara.

Trustee Chris Kabbes reported Hankins inquired if he would be allowed a separate beach area for dogs and also improvements to the concessions area with a new concessions stand, housing unit and restrooms. Kabbes those plans are a couple of years away.

Trustees heard from Brian Larson, who stated the Effingham Dive Rescue Team has a conflict on the third weekend in September, when repairs were to be made at the end of the boat ramp. However, Larson said some members of the Team have agreed to assist when time is available.

Trustees discussed lease management software services and decided to explore the costs involved in setting up a system.

Lake Superintendent Mike Dirks reported four building permits were issued during the month, and the lake level is down 11 inches.
