Our initial reports that no damage was done by the lightning strike at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Effingham this week might have been accurate as far as the exterior is concerned, bt not the interior.

St. Anthony Pastor Father Chris Brey said that the strike actually did major damage to the church building's electrical system and to the church organ. Father Chris estimated the damage done could come to $100,000. He also said the rainfall and wind exposed leaks at Sacred Heart Catholic Church that will also need to be addressed.
