An area woman was injured and had to be extricated from her vehicle after she crashed into a pillar at a local gas station just before 8:00 Wednesday evening.

Effingham City Police say the car, driven by 38-year-old Jaime L. Joliff of Beecher City, crossed Fayette avenue, apparently from the O'Reilly Auto Parts parking lot, and slammed into one of the pillars on the drive-through of the old bank attached to the Jumpin' Jimmy's station at Fayette and Henrietta. The force of the crash spun the vehicle and wedged it between the pillar and a concrete parking marker.

Joliff, who was alone in the vehicle, was injured and was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. Police cited Joliff for driving under the influence.

No other vehicles were involved.
