Fracking Draft Rules Out; Reis Has Concerns

The second draft of rules for hydraulic fracturing in the state of Illinois have been released by the state's Department of Natural Resources. Local State Representative David Reis has some concerns over the draft.

Reis offered this statement: "We will continue to review the proposed changes to the fracking rules over the weekend, but on the surface we see some very disturbing changes. Many of these changes were negotiated at great length and not included in the original bill. If you will remember, we purposely wrote the rules into the 150-page bill. A bill everyone shook hands on. We will not allow the Governor's office to try and re-write the bill through the rule-making process."

Reis' office released what the Representative termed "a very quick scan" through the changes to the second notice regs and identified these points:
