Altamont school board members heard that 512 students are expected this year at Altamont Grade School, six fewer than were expected at this time last year. Nonetheless, the Board authorized Superintendent Jeff Fritchtnitch to hire an additional grade school teacher, since the anticipated enrollment would be considerably higher than the actual number currently signed up.

The Board also approved the honorable dismissal of Mona Duckwitz as bus aide, hired Stacey Zerrusen as grade school Art teacher, and employed Courtnie Mullen. Board members also approved administrative assignments for the coming school year, which are the same as last school year, approved a tentative budget for the coming school year, and approved release of requests for proposals for performance contracting.

The Board were reminded of the Altamont Community Banquet sponsored by the Altamont Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, October 18 with a Mardi Gras theme and The Blooze Brothers Band from Chicago as the entertainment.

Fritchtnitch told Board members that the district had received a significant amount of money from the Dave Coslet estate. He did not have specifics as to when the District would receive the funds, but reminded Board members that Coslet was very generous to both the high school and grade school's neediest children and to athletics.
