Armed Robberies in Mattoon

Police are investigating two separate armed robberies that occurred in Mattoon Sunday night and early Monday.

Mattoon police were called just after 9pm Sunday of an armed robbery at Lee's Famous Recipe at 800 Charleston Avenue, and then of a holdup just after 5am Monday at Casey's General Store at 920 Charleston Avenue.

In the Lee's incident, the suspect entered the restaurant and displayed a firearm. The suspect demanded money and then fled north on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. In the Casey's incident, the same scenario occurred with the suspect displaying a firearm and demanding money and then ran off to the north.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

In the Lee's incident, the suspect was described as a white male 5'7" or 5'8", slim to medium build, wearing a pink hoodie, faded blue jeans, black tennis shoes and black ski mask. In the Casey's holdup, the suspect was described as a white male 5'7" to 5'9", medium build wearing a black t-shirt black ski mask, blue jeans and black and white tennis shoes.
