Friday's horse races at the Effingham County Fair were delayed more than an hour due to the muddy conditions in front of the grandstand, as a grader worked to make the track manageable for riders. Nonetheless, the eight-heat card of racing was completed successfully. The action was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.

Impending rain, along with the rain we've already received, and very muddy conditions around the grandstand have forced the Effingham County Fair to move the Tyler Farr and Drew Baldridge to Altamont High School.

Fair Board President Phil Hartke let us know there is free admittance to the fair grounds for the rest of the night tonight, and free shuttle service BOTH ways, so you can park at either the fairgrounds or the high school if you'd like to enjoy some of the fair activities before the concert.

Doors at Altamont High School will open at 6pm for the concert. Those that have box seat tickets, your seats will be in the gym bleachers, while track seat ticket holders will be seated on the gym floor. Concert tickets are still available, but all ticket sales have been moved to Altamont High School INCLUDING credit card sales. No further sales will take place for the concert at the fairgrounds.

Rides are open on the midway at regular prices. On the free stage tonight, Newton-based Quick and Bradley with classic rock and country music from 7 to 9pm.

A reminder that results from Friday's 4-H judging at the fair can be heard Monday at 8:45am on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.
