Two men were injured in an ATV crash in Jasper County.

The crash occurred at 7:51pm Sunday in a rural area two miles southeast of Newton. State police say the ATV operated by 24-year-old Jacob Mathews of Charleston ran off the roadway and into a ditch. The unit then overturned, throwing Mathews and his passenger, 21-year-old Collin Geltz of Newton, from the vehicle.

Mathews and Geltz were both injured. Mathews was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana for treatment, while Geltz was taken to Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Mathews was cited for operating an ATV on a roadway, but other charges are pending.
