Federal Refunds to Thousands of Illinoisans

More than 100,000 Illinoisans are now in position to get a refund from the government.

It's part of the Affordable Care Act. Insurance firms must spend at least 8% of the premiums they collect on medical care or return the difference to customers and employers.

The money won't be required to be a check in the mail. Employers can apply the rebate as a discount for employees' future premiums.
